The first shelf
Cloth books, rag books, and bath books for the very littlest readers. Six brands, all chewed-tested by the shop's own resident toddler.
A children's bookshop on Erskineville Road, with two reading nooks, a tiny garden out the back, and a story-time circle every Saturday and Wednesday morning. Babies, picture books, chapter books, middle grade — we will help find the right one.

The widest shelf. Australian, Japanese, French, British. The classics and the new. Every book on this shelf has been read aloud by us at least once.
The shelf for the brave moment a child reads their first chapter alone. Decodable starter books, easy chapter books, gentle steppes.
The shelf the shop's owners get most excited about. Australian middle grade, fantasy, real-world, funny, magical, both. The shelf grows monthly.
A small special shelf — gentle books about loss, anxiety, separation, divorce, illness, and other things small humans navigate. Curated with care.
The shelf for parents in the comfy chair while their children browse. Picture books, but also gentle parenting reads, picture-book theory, and a small poetry corner.
Saturday and Wednesday mornings, we sit in the garden reading nook and read aloud to whoever turns up. Cushions and rugs are provided. Tea and biscuits for the grown-ups. Always free, never booked out.

For birthdays, new siblings, big moves, and the kinds of family transitions that need a story to hold them. We write and illustrate a small printed book with your child's name, family, dog or cat, and the moment that needs telling. Sixteen pages, hand-bound. Three-week lead.
Briefings are by Zoom or in the shop, Tuesday afternoons. We respond to email enquiries within three days.
A friendship picture book about loneliness, finding a friend, and looking after one another. Read-aloud-perfect.
Middle-grade humour with a tender heart. About friendship across generations and the courage to know when to stop pretending.
A small detective story for the curious. Beautifully illustrated, packed with secrets to find on every page.
A small picture book about grief and the courage to feel things again. A book we recommend to many families, gently, one at a time.
No appointment necessary. The reading nooks are always open. The garden out the back has a small bench and three cushions, weather permitting. Strollers welcome inside.
